Places
A central aspect of our work concerns the management of spaces and buildings, valuable resources to be enhanced and put at the service of people.
Through constant maintenance and networking, the aim is to promote accessibility to public green spaces and encourage the opening of these spaces to the city, including through the organization of numerous public activities. Some of these spaces (Filla in Montagnola Park, Sala Tassinari in Palazzo D’Accursio) are also available for booking and rental.
A few steps from Porta San Mamolo and immersed in the first hills of Bologna, the Villa Ghigi Park extends for about 30 hectares in the valley of the Rio Fontane. Open to the public since 1974, the Park takes its name from the historic villa that dominates the area, surrounded by ancient agricultural plots, fruit trees, patches of woodland and unique views of Bologna and the surrounding hills. The Park is an ideal place for walks, educational activities, cultural, and social events. In the upper part of the Park there is one of the headquarters of Fondazione IU, housed in the rural building of the Palazzino. Fondazione IU develops a management and enhancement activity in the Park through an intense program of educational activities and environmental dissemination.

Three circular and glass buildings, with high energy efficiency, joined together by a portico that winds through the trees, not far from the large fountain: a larger multipurpose room that can accommodate up to about 140 people (Auditorium), a smaller space dedicated to laboratory activities (Lab) and finally a space destined to become a Kinder Caffè. A new multifunctional civic space in which to cultivate dialogue, an environmental education laboratory, a place for dissemination, study and meeting dedicated to the themes of the environment, sustainability, climate change and ecological and energy transition. The spaces also have an important civic and social function, through daily moments dedicated to free use by people and moments intended to host initiatives promoted and organized by the city’s civic entities .
